Statement Regarding Recent Tree Removal

Recently, the Village took the action of removing several trees from Russell Joy Park and Lambert Ave. playground.  This was done after an inspection by an arborist, with special attention given to play areas and other gathering places.  Trees that were removed were determined to either be completely dead or in the process of dying and in areas that would pose a danger to the public from falling limbs or insect infestation.

While the removal of these trees is upsetting, the safety of the public using the parks and playgrounds must be our first priority.
