Village Options Regarding The North County Water District
During the meeting held at Village Hall on Monday, February 6th, a presentation was given outlining the cost differences between joining the NCWD, or remaining independent and continuing to provide water for Village residents. Employment Opportunity – Village Attorney
The candidate under the direction of the Village Trustees, the Village Attorney is the legal adviser and attorney for all officials, officers, and departments of the Village and represents the Village in certain litigation and proceedings, including the prosecution of cases before the Village Court. Work involves drafting and reviewing ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedures, and review of contracts prior to consideration by the Village Trustees to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local laws and protecting the interests of the Village of Fredonia.
Emphasis is placed on New York State municipal law, civil code enforcement, land use, zoning, and legislative interpretation. Duties may include coordinating with outside counsel regarding litigation on behalf of the Village, researching/preparing oral and written legal opinions for Village Trustees, Village Administrator, Department Heads, staff, committees, commissions and boards, and preparing Village ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other legal documents involving the Village.
The Village of Fredonia is one of the few remaining Charter Villages in New York State and as such the successful candidate must acquire a thorough knowledge of the Charter of the Village of Fredonia, civil litigation and municipal, state, federal and constitutional law affecting municipal government.
Understanding/applying Village policies and procedures. Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from an accredited law school and experience as a municipal lawyer is required. Must be licensed by the State Bar of New York.

Russell Joy Park Pavilion Reservations
The Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Department will begin accepting Russell Joy Park pavilion rental applications for the summer 2017 season beginning on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2017at 8:30 A.M. at the Recreation Department office on the second floor of Fredonia Village Hall. Applications will only be accepted from Fredonia or Pomfret residents through the month of January. Residents from neighboring communities will be able to submit rental applications beginning in February. Russell Joy Park has three pavilions available for public rental from May 1st through October 31st.
Community Ice Skating Set To Return
The Fredonia – Pomfret Recreation Department will once again be hosting free ice skating open to all Fredonia and Pomfret residents at Steele Hall on the SUNY Fredonia Campus. There is a small fee if you need to rent skates. Skating date and times this season are as follows:
Monday December 26, 4-5 PM
Tuesday December 27, 4-5 PM
Wednesday December 28, 4-5 PM
Saturday January 7, 12:15-1:15 PM
Saturday January 28, 12:15-1:15 PM

Statement Regarding Shared Police Facility
During the May 23rd village board meeting, Mayor Landis provided a presentation which analyzed the costs and benefits of a shared police station with the City of Dunkirk. After careful consideration, the Mayor and the Board of Trustees, have decided not to pursue a joint facility at this time. Mayor Landis’ full statement can be read by downloading the file below

Village of Fredonia Adopted Budget for 2016-2017
The Board of Trustees have released their adopted budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year (June 1, 2016 – May 31, 2017). You may view the budget by clicking on the file below.
